Welcome to Pintér Studio.

We use textile art to empower survivors to build self-sustaining livelihoods.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals through professional training in textile and leather craftsmanship, helping them achieve financial independence. By fostering pride, healing, and a sense of belonging, we enable survivors to create high-quality designs and build profitable, fulfilling futures.

“Everyone has the ability to create a stronger, more connected community through their unique skills.”

Andrea Pintér, Founder

What We Do

Pintér Studio empowers individuals to unlock their potential, embrace their creativity, and develop confidence through free educational programs and hands-on Pop-Up workshops. We teach participants to craft handmade bags and accessories featuring eye-catching designs.

Key skills are taught in a comprehensive 12-hour program covering a variety of topics including: pattern design, sewing machine operation and maintenance, material selection, three-dimensional visualization, marketing, and product sales. Each participant takes home a unique accessory they have carefully designed and created as well as the knowledge and skills to keep creating.

The products crafted by our students are exclusively available through Pintér Studio. The revenue is invested back into our non-profit. Customers can purchase these one-of-a-kind products through our online store, social media platforms, live events, or trade shows.

Pintér Studios’ goal for the near future is to have a permanent location in Richmond from which we can conduct regular classes and offer job opportunities to graduates of our course in need of employment.

    Who We Are

    Our Teachers & Volunteers

Our volunteers are essential to our mission. They play a vital role in fostering a sense of belonging and growth through teaching and mentoring. Their commitment helps us provide pathways to success and empowers individuals to reintegrate into their communities, creating a ripple effect of positive and beneficial change for the future. We aim to help them realize their potential and provide education in areas such as design, pattern making, material selection, sewing, marketing, computer skills, product sales, and understanding 3D vision, aiding them in discovering and developing their creative talents.

Our volunteers are supporters and active partners who invest their time and knowledge in mentoring others. They share valuable education and expertise gained from professors and years of experience. Their contribution changes the narrative and builds a better future for everyone. The impact of their efforts can be felt in the lives they touch and in the overall health of the communities we serve by offering portable, functional, and fashionable accessories that give their communities unavoidable wear and, simultaneously, make their communities proud of who created them.

    Our Team

Pintér Studios was created in 2024 by Andrea Pintér, an emigre visual designer who saw the benefits her design work had in her own life experiences, and wanted to help others find the same.

Andrea Pintér was born in Hungary and trained in leather craftsmanship and pattern design at MOME in Budapest. Andrea’s journey took her from Hungary to the USA, where she continued to develop her craft, making and selling bags, painting, and teaching art. She set up a workshop in Virginia, where she creates leather accessories and clothing. After facing personal hardships, including the loss of her father, Andrea channeled her experiences into creating a studio that empowers others by teaching them skills in sewing and design. Today, she continues to create and teach, producing beautiful leather goods while helping others.

“Using the mind in being creative helped me not focus on the bad around me – coping with homesickness, depression, loss.”

Andrea Pintér was born on the Pest side of Budapest in a modest apartment with a hardworking family who instilled in her the value of perseverance. Her father, often working multiple jobs, and her mother, who taught her independence, were key influences in Andrea's life. At just four years old, Andrea began sewing by hand and creating designs for her Barbie doll, a passion that would shape her future. Despite the challenges of frequent moves, Andrea learned practical skills by helping her father build houses. Her father’s belief in hard work as the key to success stayed with her, but Andrea’s passion for art led her to pursue creative studies. After high school, she trained in leather craftsmanship and pattern design, while also attending evening art classes. Andrea’s journey took her from Hungary to the USA, where she continued to develop her craft, making and selling bags, painting, and teaching art. Eventually, she set up a workshop in Virginia, where she created leather accessories and clothing. Her work was recognized locally, and she began to receive donated supplies from the community. After facing personal hardships, including the loss of her father, Andrea channeled her experiences into creating a studio that empowers others—women overcoming abuse, refugees, and marginalized individuals—by teaching them skills in sewing, design, and business. Today, she continues to create and teach, producing beautiful leather goods while helping others build sustainable livelihoods.
